About Us

We started fostering for Charlotte area dog rescues in September 2021. For us it was a way to get our dog fix without being responsible for our own just yet in the thick of our careers and all the travel that twenty something’s do. I don’t think we could have ever imagined we’d have a hand in helping over 45 dogs over the last three years. We especially did not ever expect we’d launch our own rescue but life’s plans are rarely linear.

We see a need in our community and we think we can do something about it. We have learned a lot through our involvement with rescues and fostering dogs of all sorts. Though we will be starting small with the goal of helping one dog a month find their forever, eventually we hope to have the support to welcome others along the journey with us.

While we enjoy many aspects of fostering (which we will continue to do) our favorite part of rescue has been the people we’ve met along the way. Whether it be fellow fosters or adoptive families, our circle/community has grown and without their encouragement this idea would have never come to fruition. In return our focus will be the people, especially the fosters, who sacrifice so much to care for animals in need. It’s our belief that fosters are a rescues most valuable asset.

By day, our jobs are in banking and law enforcement. Each gives us unique skills and experiences to offer to our new endeavor. Our “foster fail” (a term of endearment for a dog thats adopted by their foster family) Finn is also along for the ride, to help dogs just like him find homes.

Our Mission

The Foster Dog House is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN# 99-3867441) founded in July-2024.

As a foster-based rescue we do not have a physical location but operate in the suburbs surrounding Charlotte, NC.

We believe the best kinds of dogs are found in shelters. Our mission is to spread the word about ways to help abandoned animals and ultimately rescue adoptable dogs from high-intake shelters in the Carolinas, provide necessary care, and find their forever homes.
